Zorn Copy

Anders Zorn's "In The Wood's" master copy.

This is for a project I'm currently working on.  It's part of a larger shot that pan's down into an alley.  Lately I've really been influenced by Zachary Johnson's city scape paintings - so if it has that same type of feel its because i've been referencing him.  This is also based from a small photograph that I found from google - I had to extend the canvas a bit, and left out a lot of the detail.

speed paint

Here's another quick sketch of an anthropomorphic cockroach.  I'm trying to keep up with my goal of 1 painting a day, which is a lot harder than it sounds.  This image took about an hour of work off and on.

Quick Sketch

Here is something from a side project I'm working on,  just a quick sketch to wrap my head around the character while I'm reading the book.

Liepke Master Copy

For our next BFA project I wanted to attempt a more painterly, realistic style.  I haven't done that in a while, so im doing a few mastercopies to prepare myself for the project.  Here is a quick painting trying to study liepke's brushwork.

After doing a few master copies, I decided to do a couple paintings from the actual book.  I can't say much about the story, but here are the paintings.

Peter Rabbit

Here is something I painted to supplement one of my older projects.  It didn't work out that well, but I'm going to post it anyways.  This is supposed to be the moment when Peter the rabbit is discovered eating radishes in McGregor's farm.

Figure Drawing

Hey guys,

My projects have slowed down this week, and I've had a lot more free time.  I finally had the chance to attend figure drawing, and figure painting for the first time this semester.  I've also realized how rusty I am at drawing the figure, so I'm going to make an effort to go once a week.
